October To November
I love fall.
And no, it has nothing to do with pumpkin spice anything. I like pumpkin and I like spice, but I am a bit over the fad. Also, does everyone know that pumpkin spice is just ground cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and a dash of nutmeg? If you didn't, now you know. You're welcome.
My favorite part of fall is the transition between October to November. The leaves are changing and falling in bursts of wind and rain, plants and seeds are put out to be dried or saved, there's Dia de Los Metros and Thanksgiving with just a hint of Christmas (I said hint, not nausea-inducing glitter and incessant carols).
So, here are the things I am obsessed with this fall.
Top Left: Skull cookie cutters! These beauties are just ones we found on Amazon, but they are such fun colors and actually very effective.
Top Middle: Sharing The Harvest - this is an amazing project that happens each autumn and I have been lucky enough to help support it since year one. We buy apples that all the proceeds go to help CEFA and the amazing work they do.
Top Right: Clementines. Tis the season! I love when these bad boys show up in the grocery stores. They are the perfect burst of flavor for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and in between.
Center Left: Muertos earrings - These beauties are hard to see in this photo and are from my favorite little vendor in Oaxaca. They are my go-to earrings in the fall, but here are a pair from Etsy that I love as well that have a bit more color.
Center: Weaved stone necklaces - this is something I have started doing and I hope to continue doing more of. It is a good way for me to slow myself down, be intentional. Plus, they are pretty. And I like the look of them.
Bottom Left: Bundled Sage Smudge Stick & Beeswax Candles. Incase you're not aware, sage and smudge sticks are used for cleansing physical (and not so physical) space. There is a lot I could dive into with what they are, why they are used, and who they are used by, but for now? I will just say I have a bunch of them that I made from Golden Sage and I am kind of all about it. The beeswax candles are also homemade. I love the look of them and how they
Bottom Right: Present Over Perfect. This book. This book has been so precious to me during this season of my life. I can't - I just can't even begin to explain it. Maybe we will cover that at a later date. It takes a look at how busy and full we try to make our lives when we are (usually) looking for something else all together, but it's paced. Like a conversation with a friend. It's great.
What are some of the things you love during this season of change?
