Two Months?!

June 15, 2017

Eugh.

Two months.

That's how long it has been since I've blogged. The last published blog was on my birthday in April. I don't even like my birthday! I hate that I'm consistently inconsistent. Whatever, we're moving forward.

This photo sums up my general feeling about life lately.

I don't know what is realistic at this point in terms of blogging, maybe to not put any expectations on it. I started helping Mark out with the finance/business side of the business as we quickly have discovered that while Mark loves working for himself and working with his hands, he is not as fond of having to do taxes every quarter and receipt tracking and invoicing and emailing clients. That is more of a Malia wheelhouse. So now, I'm the CFO - or, at least, that's what we're calling me.

I've also reentered into doing design work - building websites, consulting, and some minimal graphic design. This hasn't occupied too much time, but it has occupied time that might have been otherwise spent blogging... even as I write this, I am thinking to myself about how I should be working on design projects instead... disconnecting is a problem.

Back in May I preached at the church we attend, which was more like me exhaling complex thoughts all over people. I received some pretty good feedback, but also had several people do that thing that Christians love to do when they look you up and down with a look of contempt/disgust. Of course, little did they know that I live for moments like that, it's like food for my ego. But that also took up some time to prepare for, and I really hope I have the opportunity to do it again sometime later this year.

My friend Beth and I are leading a Book Club this Summer! Cause when you're a mom? You might as well go all out? I don't know. The books are great though. Wild Mama had me in tears and shouting "Fuck yesss!" with all its raw honesty and How To Raise A Wild Child is absolutely fascinating. Even if you don't have children, pick that one up. So many amazing facts and interesting studies all thrown together in one thrilling book. Not joking, they're both phenomenal.

Wild is the new black.

Then there is additionally the fact that we are looking to buy a home. But to be honest, we aren't really sure where... we have a couple of ideas and lean heavily toward Maple Valley as that is where our community is, but are also considering Hawaii and Bend/Sisters Oregon as well as several other places. House buying readiness sucks and takes lots of effort.

It is also Summer in the Pacific Northwest, which means being outside with friends as much as humanly possible: in the yard, on the deck, in the sun, on the beach, in the lake, in the driveway, in the pool, on the mountain, hiking, biking, running, dancing, laughing, swimming, all the things!

Sword fighting make us better humans.

So, I am thinking for the Summer, it might be more realistic to do more photo blogging than anything else. So now we are working on discovering a solid free program I actually like that fits on my tiny Macbook Air that I can use to convert raw files into pngs or jpegs (internet friendly photos that aren't too big).

And that's all I have for you today. This is really just me getting comfortable again in my tiny blog kingdom. Hopefully I find/make the time more and more this Summer.

Back to your regularly scheduled lives, Dearlings.
